He has served for nearly two decades in the Indian Artillery, till he obtained Premature Retirement on 07 November 2001. He is qualified on the Long Gunnery Staff Course and Technical Staff Course. He has served for about four years in the Weapons & Equipment Directorate and on the Project Management Board of the IGMDP. He was part of the Team that introduced into Service, Searcher Mk-I, Half-Scale Models, Searcher Mk-II, Heron and Nishant UAVs, and was closely involved with the commissioning of the equipment to operational readiness, training of crews, organize maintenance of these assets up to ‘D’ Level, and preparation of Operational Manuals. He was Army HQ representative on the Drafting Committee of DPP 2002.
He endeavours to introduce cutting-edge, niche and emerging technologies, concepts and equipment in India, with a single-minded focus on indigenisation and local value-add.
In 2019, Maj Krishnan introduced the concept of smart, stealthy, precision strike Loitering Munitions in India, and in early 2018 he conducted a Live Demo of such a state-of-the-art unmanned, non-contact UAV-cum-missile at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges on 19/20 February 2019, exactly one week before the Balakot strike by the IAF.
Maj Krishnan introduced India’s first HPEM based integrated Counter-UAS System to NSG and also helped in delivering and commissioning of HPEM cores to Microwave & Tubes Research & Development Centre, Bangalore, a premier DRDO Laboratory engaged in research and development activities in the counter UAS segment.
In civvy street, Maj Krishnan has obtained a Private Pilot’s License, with Instrument Rating, is a CII & QCI qualified ISO 9001-2008 Auditor, CII qualified Six Sigma Black Belt in ‘Lean Manufacturing’ and CII & Japanese Institute of Productive Maintenance (JIPM) certified Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Facilitator.
